The rise of emerging markets not only provides opportunities for business growth but also for academic researchers to explore different paradigms in international marketing activities. This article details a case study of how a Taiwanese mother board company establishes and re-structures marketing channels in Russia over three developmental stages: entry, accelerating growth and decelerating growth stages. The findings reflect that market mechanism cannot be fully developed in the entry and accelerating growth stages due to obstacles to distributor selection and limited resources of supplier. Different growth speeds between channels necessitate the supplier to re-structure its channel partnerships.

This conceptual paper examines the dynamics of the offshoring of information technology (IT) service work. It considers this important emerging phenomenon from multiple lenses, especially those of international business theories. Research propositions are developed based on the perspectives of home country firms, host nation and the dynamic interactions between the two. Questions for future research are suggested. Already established nations in the field get more opportunities than the new entrants to increase their competitiveness from experience-based knowledge gained as a result of the imitative actions of home country firms.

The paper technically describes the principles of incorporation of the biofeedback system into the system of a driving simulator. After a brief introduction of the basic features of EEG biofeedback, the most important scenarios where such simulator enhancement can be successfully used are described. The system is introduced with the use of an analysis of the major technical and construction aspects, such as the software design, hardware realization and its incorporation into the driving simulator system. Finally, the paper sketches pilot experiments which were performed using EEG biofeedback incorporated into the driving simulator.

This study uses an information processing view to assess how autonomy of foreign R&D units in a major emerging market is influenced by the organizational and environmental conditions they face. The researchers argue that specification of the autonomy is an optimal decision requiring a balance between the costs of information processing capacity and the needs of information processing for performing R&D tasks. This paper describes an implementation of the Kurtosis and InfoMax algorithms for an independent components analysis in mixed-signal CMOS. Our design uses on-chip calibration techniques and local adaptation to compensate for the effect of device mismatch in arithmetic blocks and analog memory cells. We use our design to perform two-input blind source-separation on mixtures of audio signals and mixtures of EEG signals. Our experiments show that the hardware implementation of InfoMax consistently separates the signals within a normalized reconstruction error of less than 10%, while the reconstruction error of Kurtosis varies between 25% and 60%, due to its higher sensitivity to device mismatch and input statistics.
