• Demixing Jazz-Music: Sparse Coding Neural Gas for the Separation of Noisy Overcomplete Sources

We consider the problem of separating noisy overcomplete sources from linear mixtures, i.e., we observe N mixtures of M > N sparse sources. We show that the "Sparse Coding Neural Gas" (SCNG) algorithm [8, 9] can be employed in order to estimate the mixing matrix. Based on the learned mixing matrix the sources are obtained by orthogonal matching pursuit. Using synthetically generated data, we evaluate the influence of (i) the coherence of the mixing matrix, (ii) the noise level, and (iii) the sparseness of the sources with respect to the performance that can be achieved on the representation level. • Employee Share Ownership As Moderator of the Relationship Between Firm-Specific Human Capital Investments and Organizational Commitment**

Tight labour markets and changing employment relationships make employees with high levels of firm-specific knowledge, skills, and abilities less dependent on and committed to their employer. Companies need to work harder in order to attract and retain employees and protect their mutual human capital investments. Using a dataset with survey data from employees in 11 companies (N = 777), the present study shows evidence that employee share ownership, provided that it is taken seriously as reflected by the presence of a small number of other HRM practices in the company, might be a worthwhile avenue for managers to explore.
