Research on (human resource) management and organizational issues in international development NGOs is scarce. The aim of this paper is to describe and explain how international development NGOs coordinate their international activities and how this depends upon the internal context of the NGOs. The focus is on person-oriented coordination mechanisms. The empirical analysis consists of five case studies which are based on interviews conducted in Germany and Kenya, as well as on documents. The results of this sample show the importance of expatriation and face-to-face interaction as person-oriented coordination mechanisms. The Zeitschrift fur Personalforschung (ZfP) - German Journal of Human Resource Research - is an academic journal which is concerned with state-of-the-art research in the area of strategic and operative human resource management (HRM) in organisations. The journal seeks to publish articles on the broad subject of HRM without limiting its profile to one particular definition of HRM, discipline or methodology. It seeks to attract contributions which can be in the form of review essays, conceptual papers with critical reflection, and empirical studies, which are particularly welcomed. Its focus on the academic debate sets the ZfP aside from other personnel journals which serve primarily as discussion forums for practitioners and to provide tool application recommendations.

This article is based on two perspectives of the current situation. The first perspective portrays the idea that human rights and international business are not connected by regulatory mechanisms, while the second suggests that the obvious and ensuing gap is reflected in the realm of discourses: a neoliberal inspired discourse on the integration of Human Rights and International Business on the one side and a critical (activist) discourse on the impacts of International business on the other. Both discourses frame the relation between International business and International Human Eights according to their premises. Based on these two perspectives three approaches dealing with the attempt to integrate Human Rights into International Business will be discussed.

A Political Analysis of Employee Suggestion Systems, Supplemented by a Case Study
In this article, we analyze employee suggestion schemes from a political perspective. This perspective rests on the notion that organizations are characterized by both pluralistic interests and domination. Against this background we identify the basic conditions of employee suggestion schemes, their main actors and their interests, and aspects of domination. By means of a case study we deepen and substantiate the theoretical analysis. The case study reveals two main political arenas: first, the treatment and assessment of suggestions by superiors and second, the creation of suggestions by employees. It also reveals that the basic conditions ...
