The study presents a quantitative analysis of publications of business scholars and practitioners in six major German-speaking journals over the period from 1992 to 2001. The measure of research output is used as an indicator of research performance of scholars and institutions. The present analysis replicates and extends a previous study conducted ten years ago. Results suggest that the share of full professors and practitioners who contribute to the major journals has decreased while the share of junior academics has increased. As a common feature of all journals included in the study their international exposure is low. The ranking of business schools has not changed very much compared to the time period of the previous study.

This paper reports on the use and evaluation of instruments for internal personnel selection and development investigated in a 10 year follow-up study. The paper discusses the use of the instruments according to sector and positional groups. More methods for internal selection are in use compared to 1993. The instruments with the biggest increase are assessment centers and interviews. Structured interviews are particularly in advance. Only a few methods are in use for all positional groups. In respect to human resource development five methods are ubiquitary: intra-enterprise training, external training, supervisor ratings, goal-setting and team- and project work. We discover a strong relationship between the demands of a position and the number of human resource development instruments...

The last two decades have witnessed an unprecedented transfer of Western management education theories and pedagogies into China and most Chinese MBA programs are now being modeled on their Western counterparts. To gauge the impact of this infusion of Western methods and theories on China's management educational system, this paper has conducted a narrative analysis of Chinese MBA teaching cases published before and after this transfer. The holistic approach to management, prevalent in early Chinese MBA cases and typical of traditional Chinese culture, has largely disappeared and Chinese cases now exhibit many of the same weaknesses and deficiencies that have been documented in Harvard Business School cases.
