A component selection is a crucial problem in Component-Based Software Engineering (CBSE), which is concerned with the assembly of pre-existing software components. We are approaching the component selection involving dependencies between components. We formulate the problem as multiobjective, involving two objectives and one constraint. The approach used is an evolutionary computation technique. The experiments and comparisons with the greedy approach show the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

The focus of this paper is on the internationalization process of small businesses. This study investigates if, how and why small firms use a cooperative or autonomous strategy to internationalize their activities and the possible changes in this use of strategy over time. It assumes that, because of unique resource constraints, small firms opt for a cooperative internationalization strategy. It examines not only the impact of firm - but also of industry characteristics. The empirical investigation uses a sample of Dutch firms from two different sectors: one that can be labelled as typically "old economy" (i.e. mechanical engineering) and one that can be described as "new economy" (i.e. computer software). Results show that small firms follow an evolutionary internationalization path (w...

This study compared women's roles, expectations and experiences in two comparable, male dominated industrial manufacturing companies in Australia. Both organisations are subject to legislated equal opportunity program and reporting requirements. The research was conducted to examinee the differences between what is submitted in their EEO reports and the experience of women workers in the organisations. Good jobs and poor jobs existed in the same legislative and industrial framework and in the same local labour market. The differences are located in a combination of organisational and cultural conditions.

This study examines how far restructuring has involved a change in leadership style and the development of new philosophies and approaches which derive from the Anglo-American model of 'people management'. During the Communist period, Romania experienced a highly centralised system of management. Broader currents of historical and political culture also served to inculcate values of bureaucratic formalism. In transitional times it appears that the management role is being re-defined and management culture is changing. This article seeks to understand these changes in the culture and identity of Romanian management by examining experience in a range of organisations. It also considers how far Anglo-American values of HRM and managing are relevant to a country where the wider cultural and...

Modern organizations tend to constitute of communities of practice to cover the side effect of standardization and centralization of knowledge. The distributed nature of knowledge in groups, teams and other departments of organization and complexity of this tacit knowledge lead us to use community of practice as an environment to share knowledge. In this paper we propose an agent mediated community of a practice system using MAS-CommonKADS methodology. We support the principle of autonomy since every single agent, even those in the same community, needs its own autonomy in order to model an organization and its individuals correctly, using this approach, the natural model for an agent based on knowledge sharing system has been resulted. We presented all models of MAS-CommonKADS methodol...
