This study examines leadership succession among university presidents. Strategy researchers have emphasized that changing leaders is an important organizational decision which is likely to affect the strategic direction of the organization (e.g. Hambrick/Fukuto mi 1991). The article presents the results of an explorative study that aimed at exploring work related issues in students' perceptions of their job as atypical employees. An individual picture of the experienced work reality of students is drawn according to work task, flexible working hours, instructions and training opportunities, students' relations to other employees, and social integration. By adopting a qualitative design, I was able to emphasize the subjective perspective of students describing their very own experiences as flexible workers. The study revealed various perceptions of students working as flexible employees and related this picture to current empirical and theoretical research in the field of non-standard employment.

This paper examines the relationship between the psychic distance of decision makers in SMEs from specific foreign markets and their interest in cooperation with companies from those countries. Based on a review of the literature and a qualitative empirical study among entrepreneurs in the Saxon-Czech border area, the paper identifies the central explanatory variables of psychic distance, thus contributing to a theoretically-based conceptualization of this construct. Previous conceptualizations of psychic distance are extended and specified. This reveals the necessity for a wider inclusion of perceived differences in the political and legal situations, the mind-set as well as the historical development.

The objective of the article is to introduce to the topic of Student Relationship Management (SRM) in Germany. The concept has been derived from the idea of a Customer Relationship Management (CRM), which has already been successfully implemented in many enterprises. Its objective is to canvass for customers, obtain their loyalty towards the company and, if necessary, win them back. Furthermore, potential uses of a SRM within the context of Higher Education Management will be demonstrated by means of examples of German universities and by applying new methods.
